Because we are a non-profit organization, Harbor House is
very dependent upon volunteer assistance to help us achieve our mission.
You can volunteer for any amount of time you desire--Monday though Friday,
8:00AM-5:00PM. As a volunteer, you become an active part of the team.
Currently, we are seeking individuals to:
Host to Families and Children
greet, and work with families/children while they are here
Gardner
individual or group interested in assisting us with exterior flowers/plants
up-keep

Volunteers and interns at Harbor House assist in a variety of
tasks. Most of these tasks fall under three categories: 1)
administrative duties, 2) working with families and children, and 3)
special projects. Administrative duties may include paperwork,
computer data entry, special projects, running errands, and assisting
other team members. Working with families may involve greeting
guests as they arrive, supervising children in the playroom, and
(overall) making the family feel comfortable while they are here.
Special projects may include assistance in fundraisers and other
'non-routine' events.
Volunteers can assist for as many hours as
desired--Monday through Friday, 8:00-5:00.

Confidentiality
|
Volunteers/interns are expected to adhere to appropriate
confidentiality standards at all times. This means that volunteers
will not discuss cases (or any related information) to any persons other
than Harbor House staff. Intentional outside contact with families
is not allowed. Confidentiality standards are in place for the
privacy and respect that are entitled to the families that we
serve. Failure to adhere to theses standards will result in
immediate dismissal of volunteers duties and may result in legal action. |
|
Volunteers/interns must consent to and be administered a
criminal background check before becoming an active volunteer with
Harbor House. |

Professional Etiquette
|
Volunteers/interns are expected to present themselves in a
professional manner. Volunteers/interns should be courteous to families at
all times. Volunteers should dress appropriately.
Professional 'business attire' is not required. However,
volunteers should dress in a non-threatening manner (no beer logos,
ripped clothing, provocative, etc.). |
|
Harbor House is grateful for the volunteer/intern assistance we
receive. We rely heavily on the dedication and hard work of
volunteers. Therefore, it is important to follow through on your
commitments to Harbor House. This means volunteers should make
every effort to be on-time according to the agreed schedule. If
time commitment changes are necessary, please notify a Harbor House
staff member!
